Memorably described as "excrutiatingly hilarious", with "the energy of Jackie Gleason, the silliness of Gilda Radner, and the intelligence of Lucille Ball", Kelley Lynn's comedy is a force to be reckoned with. A hysterical mix of lunacy, anger, and bitter sarcasm; Kelley is like a volcano that keeps erupting onstage. Her insane delivery combined with her twisted observations on celebrity, television, and 1980's music; to name a few; are just part of the reason that Kelley's fanbase is constantly growing.
A BFA graduate of the Performing Arts Department at Adelphi University, Kelley Lynn is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. Kelley has remained a strong presence in the New York area, performing in endless productions and becoming one of the first original members of the prestigious troupe "The Actors Project NYC", where she continues to write sketch comedy and scenes on a freelance hired basis for the company's showcases. Kelley has directed, written, and starred in several comedy productions, including an original comedy show that she wrote, debuting at Adelphi University last May: "Modernn Technulugyy and the Dumbbing Down of AmeriKah LOL." Kelley is a regular on the popular comedy podcast "The Some Guy Show," and is a comedy TV-review writer for the pop-culture site www.poptimal.com: where she covers American Idol, The X-Factor, America's Got Talent, and Dancing With the Stars. Her hilarious and biting, sarcastic reviews have caught the attention of host and recent Emmy-winner Tom Bergeron, who regularly shares them on his Twitter page, and leaves comments on the site. He has referred to Kelley's tone several times as "wonderfully snarky." Kelley Lynn has also acted as an interviewer for the site - having one-on-one exclusive interviews with actors Tracey Gold, Melinda McGraw, and Chloris Leachman, to name a few.
Kelley can often be found performing stand-up comedy in several NYC clubs such as Caroline's, Comedy Cellar, and her favorite home away from home, Gotham Comedy Club. For the past eleven years, Kelley has been an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University; teaching Dramatics, Beginning Acting, and a course that she created herself; Stand-Up Comedy. Each semester, with Kelley's help and knowledge, students write and create a standard 7-minute set, and then perform it for the first time ever on the Gotham Comedy Club stage. Kelley's Stand-Up Comedy Course has become intensely popular with students, and has been featured in several New York area magazine and newspaper articles. Kelley has performed with such names as Judy Gold, Amy Schumer, Jessica Kirson, and Elayne Boosler. In addition to stand-up, Kelley has become known for her off-the-wall, original characters and videos on her You Tube Channel. On July 13th, 2011, Kelley Lynn woke up to discover her dear husband of only 5 years had collapsed at work and died of a sudden, massive heart-attack. He was a healthy 46 years old. Her friends in the comedy community sprung into action, and two-nights of Comedy Benefits were put together (produced by Andrew Block) at The Metropolitan Room in NYC; where Kelley made her return to the stage debut, alongside a cameo performance from Jim Gaffigan, and headliners Danny Cohen and Elayne Boosler. The show was titled: "My Husband Died and All I Got Was This Lousy Comedy Show: A Celebration of Kelley Lynn and the Life of Don Shepherd." In March 2012; Kelley wrote, directed, and starred in an original one-woman show about her husband's death entitled: "My Husband Is Not a Rainbow", in the Network's One-Act Play Festival. The show was a brutally honest mix of play and stand-up comedy, and made the Semi-Final Round in the Festival. Currently, Kelley is writing a book about the awful, hilarious truths of grieving your husband. Pieces from the eventual book can be found at her blogsite: www.ripthelifeiknew.com.
